The woman on the right was photographed in the small village of San Miguel Viejo, Mexico. It is fifteen minutes from my home.
San Miguel de Allende and its surrounding area was the first location in my multi-year global The People series.
La Gente, “The People”, is an ode to my town and neighbors. I photographed on the streets for two years using a portable white background and two teen-aged assistants. The series has over 220 portraits of young and older Sanmiguelense.
The photographs can be seen on the dedicated La Gente website and via 2,000 large-size, free ‘zines’ that I hand out as a give-back to my community.
Don’t forget to expand the photos via a sweet click. These should be viewed as lifesize.
